I was delighted to be a guest on the In The House Podcast with real estate experts & dynamic hosts Jenny Wun and Toni Sing. Their energy sparked a great conversation. Here are some of the highlights of our discussion.
The Out of Chaos Story
I discussed my background and transitioning from the hospitality industry to professional organizing. Then, I described my 20 years as founder of Out of Chaos and growing a team of organizers.
What Out of Chaos Does
We talked about how Out of Chaos helps individuals with their personal productivity at home and at the office. Even though most of the information we have is digital, there is still a need for organizing physical objects. And we need to manage all the information that we have.
The benefit of hiring Out of Chaos is that we can have a team onsite and, potentially within one day, declutter the home and prepare it for a real estate listing. Not only does Out of Chaos deal with the homeowner’s possessions, but we also help them deal with the emotional attachment to their possessions. When we come in with a team of 4-6 people and work for six hours, that’s 24-36 hours of work – a week’s worth of work in one day. It’s very efficient.
For example, we prepared a two-bedroom condo for sale. We had a team of four people, and in one day, we cleared counters, closets, paperwork in the home office and edited bookshelves. The team pre-packed everything the homeowner didn’t need until they were in their new home. Then, we coordinated with removal services to move items she wanted to keep into storage. The balance of the items went for sale or donations.
In fact, Out of Chaos is a one-stop-shop. We manage the entire household moving project. We backwards engineer the timeline to determine the level of decluttering needed and what needs to move out of the home by the move date. In addition, we coordinate with moving companies and removal services (rubbish, recycling, and resale). Out of Chaos also works with the client to ship household goods to family and friends.
