I have helped many clients move over the years and I’ve always been impressed with those who have dedicated containers for their holiday decorations. Seasonal decorations can often be cumbersome to move and store.  As well, many of these items are often delicate, so you worry about packaging.

Homemade storage containers are great (see my recent 5 Favourite Holiday Organizing Tips here), but if you’re moving or want to keep your items extra safe, I recommend purchasing dedicated containers.

Here are (in my opinion) 6 top containers for moving or storing holiday decorations.

1. Ornament storage boxes: With removable dividers to prevent rubbing and breakage, an ornament storage box is great.  They come in a variety of sizes and materials.
2. Wreath storage box: If you regularly use an artificial wreath, these containers work well at keeping your wreath looking brand-new.
3. Plastic totes: These are very efficient catch-alls for your holiday items.  Bonus: Choose red ones so you can identify them as holiday storage.
4. Artificial tree storage bag: There are lots of different tree bags on the market that can make storing your Christmas tree a snap.
5. Gift wrap storage box: If you want to keep your holiday gift wrap separate from your other wrapping paper, consider a storage container that you only need to access annually.
6. String light organizer: If you’ve ever tried to untangle lights from a box, you’ll know how valuable a light organizer can be.
