Keeping your clothes closet organized seems to be a never-ending task. While continuous editing to control volume helps you to maintain your space, there are three important tips to keep top of mind to maximize the space and help you find what you need, when you need it. Here at Out of Chaos, we call these tips “Closet HAC” and they will have a huge impact on your productivity and organization.

  1. Hanger Harmonizing
  2. Access to Accessories
  3. Colour Coding

Hanger Harmonizing

It is a good idea to keep only one style of hangers to have a consistent look. Having an array of wire, plastic and wooden hangers will immediately look disorganized. Pick one kind of style and stick with it. While wooden hangers may be admired they are bulky. In a clothes closet with limited space, choosing flocked hangers provide a narrower profile.

Access to Accessories

There is nothing more disorganized than scattered jewelry – mismatched and tangled. Most of the time it’s a struggle to find what you need in a rush when you want that one piece to make your outfit perfect.

There’s an easy & visible solution. Go vertical! Use clear plastic pockets, similar to a shoe hanger but with smaller pockets. It is a great space saver when you don’t have space for jewelry boxes and drawers.

Colour Coding

Remember “Roy G Biv”? Colour code like the colours of the rainbow with red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet. Pair like colours with like colours. Group long-sleeved from short-sleeved from sleeveless, etc. It helps with getting dressed fast and easy in the morning.

These three simple clothes closet organizing tricks will really make a difference and you will notice how much time you can save getting ready in the morning. If you want to see the products that I discuss in this post, check out the video here.
