Vancouver Professional Organizer, Linda Chu returns to CityTV Breakfast Television. This time she joins co-host Simi Sara as they tackle the task of decluttering the car and keeping it organized with some handy containers and products.
Your car is your mobile life. It can be messier than your home because it is a smaller space. Additionally, when you are in your vehicle, you’re likely driving it. You can’t tidy and drive at the same time so clutter builds up. But, we must remember the danger of loose items in your car. In an accident, they can become deadly projectiles. Therefore it is important to secure everything for safety.
The steps to decluttering the car are:
- Remove all garbage and recycling and dispose of it.
- Group like items together such as
- Emergency items (booster cables, windshield wash)
- Toys (entertainment for children)
- Work-related (marketing materials, laptop)
- Items that must be handy (gas station loyalty card, sunglasses)
- Find suitable containers for the items. Check out our post on organizing the car for our recommendations.
- Take a few minutes every week to dispose of trash and put all items back in their containers.
